About the Alabama Chocolate Festival in Rainbow City

The third annual Alabama Chocolate Festival in Rainbow City, is scheduled for April 5, 2008 at the football/soccer field at Rainbow Middle School. We promise more and more chocolate, in all shapes and sizes. Pies, cakes, cookies, and candies will be available from vendors, some free, some to buy, but more varieties than at last year's inaugural event.

The 3rd annual Alabama Chocolate Festival will take place Saturday, April 5 from 10:30 AM to 8 PM. “We have outgrown the venue at Rainbow Plaza and are moving to a larger area, the football/soccer field at Rainbow Middle School.

We appreciate the support we have received from people all over the region. Their interest and attendance has allowed us to increase the caliber of entertainment and special events at this year’s festival. The growth in attendees each of the first two years included many people who live in many cities and counties, some a hundred miles away from Rainbow City.”

Charlotte Phifer, chairperson of Project EDGE (Economic Development Growth Excellence), added, “Our committee has been involved in several programs in the city but none with the positive impact of the chocolate festival. It is hard to believe this year will be just our third. I guess we underestimated the appeal of “chocolate’ in attracting people.” Activities planned this year by Ms. Phifer’s committee are the Chocolate Taste Off with awards given to the best cookies, cakes, pies and candies, all with chocolate as part of their recipe; a carnival that will set-up adjacent to the site on Friday, the 4th and be ready for kids of all ages as part of the event; musical entertainment will begin at 10:30a.m. and run till 8 p.m.
